We all get to the point on our blog where we’re stumped for ideas. It happens to the best of us. What can we do when our creative juices are running low?
Twitter is a great tool to find new ideas for blog posts. Within the 140 character limit, you can find all kinds of helpful nuggets of inspiration for your next blog post.
Here are a few ways to use Twitter to find new new post ideas.
- Search For A Specific Keyword. Within your favorite Twitter app or using the website directly, search for the main keywords of your website. With thousands of links being shared every minute, there is bound to be an article that pops up that gives you that spark of inspiration for your next blog post.
- Ask A Question. Even if you have a dozen or so devoted followers, Twitter gives us a great opportunity to ask questions. Ask your followers what they would like to see you write. The feedback you get from your question could help you develop an idea for your next blog post or collect data to build upon.
- Join A Hashtag Discussion. Hashtags (#’s) allow people to hold discussions that are collected within the Twitter feed. Instead of random tweets going out into the oblivion that is the net, the hashtag allows people to talk about a specific subject and collect the messages. Read the conversations that are happening in real time to see if they give you an idea of what people want to know or what may be a good subject to talk about.
- Follow Influential People. There’s a reason why so many people follow just a few: they post amazing insights and links. Follow influential people to see how people respond to each link and tweet – if there’s a lot of conversation, you’re bound to find great ideas.
- Watch The Trends. Trending topics on Twitter are ones which everyone seems to be talking about. If a topic related to your niche pops up, go check it out and see what the fuss is about. If you know something others don’t, write a post and share it within the trend.
Twitter is an amazing tool that gives you insights into what people are talking about.
Next time that you’re stumped about writing a new post, log into Twitter and follow a few of these tips to break that writers block.

Interesting read Murlu.
I am pretty new to the whole Twitter world, and have only just started using it. Didn’t know how effective Twitter could be for a blogger until I saw the results on my Wifes Blog, she’s been a blogger and Tweeter for much longer, it realy helps to get your blog known out there, and also awesome to find interesting information!
Thanks again!
The Warrior Forum is such a great place to find people and new ideas. Since there’s so many people working on a variety of items, there’s something new everyday.
I’d be interested to hear how you use the forums to find ideas for your posts.
That’s fantastic and what’s even better is by collecting the community responses, people will share the post because they’re opinions are in the post.

Thanks for the comment Robin – you’d be really surprised to see how many ideas you can generate just from watching a few minutes of Twitter chat. Spend a good 10 minutes reading through what’s being shared and ask a few questions and you’ll walk away with dozens of ideas.
Twitter is one of the best places to look for blog ideas. It’s through Twitter that I first learn about the Google font API although it took me more than a week to post about it. I also have a separate column for the keyword ‘WordPress’ in Tweetdeck. Sometimes I feel Twitter is driving me crazy with information overload!

I hear ya Amor, sometimes the sheer amount of info can be overwhelming but I think this also shows the importance of following certain people so you aren’t bombarded with link after link as if it were a real time RSS.
